Located in the municipal territory of Macomer, the Nuraghe Succurronis rises on a gentle basalt elevation that dominates the surrounding plateau.
The building, a single-tower structure with a circular plan, stands out for the neatness of its masonry made of basalt blocks, laid in well-aligned horizontal courses that progressively narrowed toward the summit.
The entrance, oriented to the southeast, preserves an imposing lintel surmounted by the typical relief opening. Once past the access corridor, where the guard niche and the flight of stairs leading to the upper level open up, one enters the central chamber. This environment preserves its original tholos in an excellent state, with the closed and intact stone dome offering a suspended and muffled atmosphere.
Inserted into a dense network of prehistoric sites that controlled the territory of Macomer, the Nuraghe Succurronis displays extraordinary static endurance. The precision of the dry-stone interlocking and the preservation of the internal roofing make it a shining example of Middle Bronze Age Nuragic engineering.
