One of the heavyweights of the Sardinian Nuragic landscape, the Nuraghe Losa ranks among the finest nuraghes in Sardinia, appearing to us in all its splendor millennia later thanks to its astonishing state of preservation.
Located in the territory of Abbasanta, the imposing basalt complex is organized around a trilobed bastion dominated by the majestic central tower, whose tholos remains perfectly intact.
Crossing the main threshold, a well-preserved corridor allows visitors to explore the various interior rooms and the staircase carved into the masonry to reach the upper levels. Surrounding the primary core is an articulated curtain wall equipped with lesser towers, designed to defend the extensive hut village. The extraordinary skill with which the boulders were shaped and put in place reveals the importance of Losa as a primary political, social, and territorial control center during the Bronze Age.
Careful excavation and enhancement work makes a visit today a uniquely immersive experience. Walking inside its covered galleries and observing the massive scale of the bastion close up offers tangible proof of the level of engineering reached by the Nuragic civilization.
