Near the town of Nule stands the Nuraghe Arile, a single-tower fortress erected with granite blocks quarried in the surrounding area. The construction preserves an external facing clearly visible across several courses, dry-laid with a gradual inclination toward the upper part of the building.
The trapezoidal entrance is surmounted by a substantial stone block acting as a lintel. The access corridor displays a particular layout, integrating a wall niche on one side and the opening of the staircase leading to the upper level on the other. Passing through the corridor leads to the central chamber, whose corbeled dome roof is currently unroofed. The interior space is distinguished by three cross-arranged niches along the perimeter, an uncommon articulation for an isolated tower.
The monument confirms the settlement density that characterized the Goceano region during protohistory. Arile constitutes a clear testimony to the ability of local artisans in shaping granite material, creating a structure balanced between the solidity of the external walls and the functionality of the interior spaces.
The building's position allowed an immediate view of the nearby ridges, favoring connection with the other garrison points distributed throughout the area. The site offers a clear glimpse into ancient architecture.
