Castelsardo

It’s one of the most highly decorated villages in Sardinia.
Its accolades place it among exclusive circles such as The Seven Royal Cities of Sardinia, Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages, Les Plus Beaux Villages de la Terre, and Historic Cities of the Mediterranean—networks made all the more prestigious by the presence of Castelsardo itself.

The recipe is simple: a base of solid rock forming a headland surrounded by the unmistakable scent of the Mediterranean Sea; an urban "dough" lovingly shaped and expertly kneaded over centuries by multicultural hands; a colorful glaze of hues painting the winding streets of this enchanting village, enhancing its flavor through visual beauty; and, as the cherry on top—perched on the rock—the symbol that gives Castelsardo its name: the Doria Castle.
The result is a town whose streets exude the essence of the Mediterranean and the aromas of traditional seafood cuisine, where every step resonates with the richness of centuries-old history expressed through a tapestry of traditions woven over time.
These crossings and intertwinings can be seen—and even touched—within the castle walls, home to the most visited museum on the entire island of Sardinia: the Museum of Mediterranean Weaving.

If you find yourself in northern Sardinia, Castelsardo is an absolute must-see!
