On the summit of the Su Kisterru elevation, in the territory of Meana Sardo, stands the Nuraghe Nolza, one of the most majestic and panoramic complexes in the whole of Barbagia.
Located at an altitude of about one thousand meters, this large quadrilobate monument dominates the surrounding landscape, offering an extraordinary view of the Gennargentu mountains and the hills of Mandrolisai. Its position and imposing structure built from large blocks of schist highlight the central role this fortress played in controlling the territory.
Exploring the area of the complex, one traces the remains of the bastion and the four corner towers that surrounded the central tower. Archaeological excavations have brought to light perimeter spaces, corridors, and courtyards that showcase the complexity of ancient building techniques. Inside the rooms, one clearly senses the feeling of being in a true fortified citadel, designed to host the community and to withstand the test of time.
