The countryside surrounding the village of Oniferi preserves among its pastures the Nuraghe Murtas, a solid stone construction deeply rooted in the landscape of Barbagia.

This single-tower building, constructed by dry-stacking imposing blocks of local rock, takes advantage of the natural slope of the terrain to strongly dominate the surrounding area. The exterior appearance of the monument, although marked by the passing of centuries, maintains an austere physiognomy that immediately captures the attention of anyone exploring the territory.
Crossing the entrance threshold, which is currently semi-ruined, one accesses an interior chamber where the overlapping stones converge upward to form a well-preserved large domed ceiling. The thick walls offer a cool and shaded shelter, revealing small recessed spaces used in ancient times as storage niches. The arrangement of every single architectural element reflects the extraordinary craftsmanship of those who knew how to transform raw stone into a secure dwelling.

The surrounding countryside, characterized by pastures, oak trees, and Mediterranean scrub, provides the visit with a serene and evocative context. Exploring the Nuraghe Murtas allows visitors to experience a pleasant outdoor activity and come into direct contact with the ancient history of the municipality of Oniferi and its traditions.
