In the Barbagia di Ollolai, within the territory of Fonni, stands the Nuraghe Dronnoro, an imposing complex rising on a plateau overlooking the highest town on the island.
Amidst pastures and local granite boulders, the structure features an exceptionally well-preserved central keep, whose tholos still towers intact against the mountain sky.
A triangular courtyard facing southeast welcomes visitors, guiding them toward the main entrance of the monument. Passing the threshold, a short corridor leads to the interior spaces and reveals on the left the staircase built into the thickness of the masonry, designed for easily ascending to the upper levels. The careful dry-stone assembly of the granite blocks reflects the extraordinary engineering expertise of the ancient Nuragic master builders.
The scenic context amplifies the charm of the visit thanks to the proximity of other historical testimonies, from nearby domus de janas to the vestiges of the Roman era. This natural isolation preserves the original atmosphere of a site that encapsulates centuries of history and human habitation among the Sardinian hills.
